An Introduction to Jim Corbett National Park:

Nature has granted India the best of beautiful places in the whole world. One such place is the Jim Corbett National Park. Jim Corbett was a famous hunter turned wildlife researcher. His contributions to finding in-depth natural places in India are unmatched. In the year 1936, the then-British Government announced the area around the foothills of the Himalayas as the Jim Corbett National Park. Currently, Jim Corbett National Park is in Uttarakhand state of India. 

The park is known for its vivid natural landscapes and it is a natural habitat for many wild animals. You will see them in their full glory. Jim Corbett has almost 260 Tigers in it. These are world famous The Royal Bengal Tigers. Other than tigers, you will see wild elephants, wild boars, birds, deer, Mahsheer fish, and many more different species. 

Jim Corbett National Park has two parts. One is the Buffer Zone & the other is Core Zone. The total area of both parts is 1319 SQ KMs. Note that you can roam into only 20% of the area of the jungle. The government has banned the remaining parts but it will be enough and worth it. 

Jim Corbett Famous Zones:

Jim Corbett has been divided into several zones for the ease of tourists and to maintain geographical identifications. These zones offer different landscape views but you may not see a wide difference in animals in any of these areas. These areas are Dhikala Zone, Bijrani Zones, Jhirna Zones, Dhela Zones, and Durgadevi Zones. 

Dhikala Zone:

It is the most famous zone in Jim Corbett National Park. This place has a record sighting of the Royal Bengal Tigers. Here you can book a Jeep safari and witness the amazing activities of the wildlife. Here you will also see grasslands near the Ramganga river channels. Here you will also see several other animals such as deer, bear, sloth, etc. This place is home to flora and fauna. 

Birjani Zone:

If you want to see calm & relaxed wildlife, Birjani Zone is perfect for you. It is the 2nd most famous place at Jim Corbett. This place is full of eye-pleasing natural sites. Here also you will see Royal Bengal Tigers during your tour. Other than the tiger, you will see elephants, deer, several birds, and many more other animals here. 

Jhirna Zone:

Jhirna zone is open throughout the year. You can visit this place at any time of the year. The government opened it in 1994 only. Here you can see many wild animals easily such as wild elephants, sloth beer, barking deer, sambar, and the royal Bengal tiger. This place is also famous for its eye-pleasing beautiful sightings. 

Dhela Zone:

The newest open zone in Jim Corbett National Park is Dhela Zone. This place is famous for its many landscapes, forests, water bodies, and often sightings of wild animals. This zone has the second highest number of Tiger sightings in 2019-2020. 

Durga Devi Zone:

Durga Devi zone is famous for its natural beauty. This place is full of several water bodies, hills, and beautiful landscapes. Here you will also see dense forest areas filled with Sal and Kusum trees. This place is completely created by two rivers Ramganga and Mandal Rivers. Here you will also see the Mahsheer fish near Domunda Bridge. 

Phato Zone:

Phato zone is a dense forest zone in Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand, India. It is also known as the Terai-Duar savanna and grasslands ecoregion. Phato zone is home to many animals including Royal Bengal Tiger, Indian leopards, Asian Elephant, sloth bears, wild boars, sambar and chital deer.

Garjia Zone:

Garjia zone or Ringora zone was open on November it is 5km far from the Ramnagar city. Its a core area of jim corbett national park. In Garjia or Ringora zone tourist can easily seen the wild animals like- Bengal Tiger, Indian leopards, Asian Elephant birds like Grey hornbill, Kalij Pheasant, Great Hornbill, Ruddy shelduck, River lapwing, Crested kingfisher, Drongos.

Types of Safari in Jim Corbett:

The best thing about Jim Corbett National Park is its safari. You can spend your time watching the wildlife very closely via Jeep & Canter Safari. This place is especially famous for these jungle safaris among the visitors who come here. You will get two types of Safaris in Jim Corbett National Park as follows. 

1. Jeep Safari: 

Jeep Safari is the most famous tour at Jim Corbett. You will be provided with a small gypsy to roam in the jungle and watch the animals in their natural habitat. This gypsy is enough for 6 adults and 2 kids at a time. You will be with a guide all the time. This safari is known as the Jeep Safari. 

You can book a Jeep Safari at Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, DurgaDevi, Garjia, Phato and Sitabani Zones. Note that for a Jeep Safari at Dhikala Zone, you must book a night stay at a forest restroom. 

2. Canter Safari: 

Another great way to enjoy Jim Corbett is Canter Safari. It is a larger vehicle that can accommodate almost 16 people at a time. If you are travelling with a group of more than 6-8 people then you will surely need this. Dhikala Zone is the only zone that offers Canter Safari for its tourists. 

3. Elephant Safari: 

Jim Corbett once used to offer the Elephant Safari too. But due to the order from High Court, it is now banned in Jim Corbett National Park. As the High Court said that local people abuse the elephants for their use in Safaris. This is anyway not acceptable.

According to the safari you choose, you will have to pay different prices. However, prices are completely the same in all the zones of Jim Corbett National Park. You will be given a total charge for the below services.

Jim Corbett National Park Zones Timings:
